Prof. Dr. Johann Borenstein at the University of Michigan has developed this OmniTread Serpentine Robot. It can traverse extremely difficult terrain, such as the rubble of a collapsed building or pass through small holes and climb over tall obstacles as well as drive over sand and rocks.
